Solar Decathlon Winner and Two Additional Homes Feature Uponor

The University of Maryland’s WaterShed house, which features an Uponor PEX plumbing system, received first place in the U.S. Department of Energy’s 2011 Solar Decathlon competition, which awards collegiate teams for designing, building and operating the most cost-effective, energy-efficient and functional solar-powered homes. Uponor also donated PEX tubing to the sixth-place California team and the ninth-place Massachusetts team, which used the PEX for both the homes’ plumbing and fire suppression systems.
